The rhythmic sound of the train engine, the passing lights of houses scattered in the forest, the air and rain drops playing on my fingers, the breeze in my face, the moon in the rivers, the speed. Pure bliss!
Yesterday I went on a day trip with my Romanian flat mate Alex. We went up the coast to the small place of Murdeshwar. The 60km bus ride took about 3 hours and was quite an experience in itself. Riding a bus is more bumpy than riding an elephant or a horse. In Murdeshwar we saw yet another huge temple (not pictured, from the outside they all look the same and inside no photos can be taken). The special thing here was the giant statue of Shiva. See the people on the picture to get an idea of the size.

The statue and the temple are on a small hill right at the coast, and a lot of fishing is done at the place. Here one of the many small fisher boats is pulled into the water.

As everywhere in this country the women wear colorful cloth

To save us from another bumpy ride we took the train on our way back. It was late by an hour, so we had some time to watch the trucks riding by. When the train finally came it was to dark to take pictures, but it was amazing!

Wow, Malte, that sounds really awesome! Maybe once you can't take all the western everyday luxuries for given any more, you become more sensitive to the beauty of the things around you. But then, maybe it's just that you could not go on an open train ride like that anywhere in Europe :-)
You always become more sensitive to the beauty of things if they are scarce. Yesterday I saw a bit of blue sky between the monsoon clouds. After a week of rain that's amazingly beautiful!
^^ who's writing btw?
That was me, Urs. For some reason Google would not let me log in.
I'd really like to come to India and Nepal too in November, maybe it's a bit nicer after the Monsoon season has ended... I have no idea where to get all the vaccinations though, how long in advance would I need to get them?
