nothing special

There's nothing special to say. I took it slow on the weekend, and spent most of Sunday dozing on the beach. So here are a few pictures I took lately:

This is me with the mustache, I've been growing for about 6 weeks. I think I mentioned at some point the mustache-growing-game I had with my flat mates. Well we all shaved on the week end.
Also worth noting is the bright blue shirt I'm wearing. Since men usually don't wear any fancy traditional cloth, I got this shirt in a color that's might seem extreme or gay in Germany, but is quite normal here :o


This is a construction site. It's typical, to find a massive, wooden scaffold but no tower crane or other machinery. Heavy materials are usually just carried by a group of people, as you can see, including women workers.


Here I just want to show the dirt, that's piled right next to a small shop. The improvised roof, made from blue canvas is typical for slum housing and can be found almost everywhere. There are no trash bins on the street, but piles of trash everywhere. Often I've been searching for a trash bin for very long and considered the ethical implications of throwing my stuff on the street. In the end I usually find that I'm not a good person, and throw my stuff on the street. It's tempting.


A group of women waiting for a bus in Manipal. In contrast to men, all women wear colorful, traditional cloth. As far as I know the color and style of the cloth also communicates some information about cast and region of origin, but I don't know about it.
